Synthetic Lifting and Rigging Rope

Synthetic lifting and rigging rope is a high-strength, lightweight alternative to wire rope. While synthetic rope has been used for over 60 year in a huge number of industries, it has just recently become more widely accepted to be used in overhead lifting. This newfound acceptance has come on the heels of advancements in high-performance synthetic materials. Synthetic lifting and rigging rope is available in a variety of materials and constructions, all suited to perform in different working conditions. This includes nylon, polyester, and many others. These vast combinations of materials and constructions allow synthetic rigging rope to be used in an impressive amount of industries and environments including but not limited to:

  • Logging
  • Commercial Fishing
  • Crane Lifting
  • Military and Defense
  • Oil, Gas, and Energy
  • Entertainment
  • Inland River
  • Mining
  • Mooring
  • Recreational Marine
  • Safety and Rescue
  • Utility Services

Synthetic rigging and lifting rope offers significant weight savings when compared to wire rope of the same capacity. This allows a single rigger to do a job that would likely take multiple people to perform with wire rope.

Here at Tri-State Rigging Equipment we pride ourselves on providing our customers with only the highest quality synthetic rope, from only the most reputable manufacturers. We can provide you with any rigging product on the market, so if you cannot find what you are looking for, or if you don’t know exactly what you need, call or email our sales team to speak with a rigging product specialist.

Synthetic Fiber Rope Advantages

  • Stronger and more durable than natural fiber rope
  • Very high strength to weight ratio
  • Synthetic rope is very pliable and grips the load securely without scratching or marring load surfaces
  • Inherently spark and explosion resistant
  • Neutrally buoyant allowing it to be used in fresh and saltwater
  • Safer than wire rope when a break occurs due to lighter weight
  • More cost-efficient than wire rope

Synthetic Fiber Rope Disadvantages

  • At higher working load limits, the diameter of synthetic rope can become extremely large
  • Some synthetic materials experience significant stretch when under load
  • Strength is diminished when used in environments with temperatures over 150° F
  • Some synthetic ropes tend to melt when used in environments with temperatures over 300° F
